With the blessings of His Grace Bishop David, the love and support of our mother churches and priests, and the diligence and prayers of many, God has opened the doors for us to establish a new church in western Nassau county in New York. This church, whose patron saint is the evangelist St. Luke, seeks to reach out and serve those who are in the watershed regions of our Queens and Long Island churches.
With the growth of the Coptic Church in the US, it is no surprise that our churches throughout the region have been growing at an exponential rate. With this growth comes the need for new church communities throughout our region. As our mother churches grow, they will continue to give birth to new communities locally, bringing the church to the people.
St. Luke Coptic Orthodox Church is one of these communities that is now starting, looking to serve those in and around this region. This church has its roots in the Revival services that were started in the fall of 2015, held at St. Mary and St. Antonios Church in Queens, NY. As the community continued to grow and expand eastward, it became clear that we needed to bring the church to our local community there.
Our vision is to have a fellowship of believers who are steadfast in Christian doctrine, witnessing and serving to bring Christ into our personal lives, our homes, and our community. Specifically, we believe that this can be accomplished through our mission as follows:
Building a community of current and future generation Christians in western Long Island, through a church that is the living manifestation of Christ in this world. Sharing God's love in our local community through the teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ kept by our deeply-rooted Coptic Orthodox faith and traditions.
We have outlined our core values that we believe will guide us towards our goals in this mission. These core values are comprised of Intimate Fellowship, Unconditional Outreach, A Serving Church, Emotionally Healthy, Building Christ Centered Homes, and Keeping the Faith, can be found here with full descriptions.
With God’s grace and your support, we hope to continue this effort. We pray that this church becomes a blessing to the local community and can genuinely become a physical manifestation of Christ in our communities and homes.
